The Combat Application Tourniquet or (CAT) is a small and lightweight torniquet designed to be used one handed. Torniquets are used to completel occlude arterial blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound.
The CAT uses a windlass system to evenly apply true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once applied and tightened and bleeding is under control the windlass is used to lock the CAT in place. A velcro strap is then used to secure the windlass in place duiring evacuation.
